What are skins? Skins let you customize the way Mercury Audio
Player looks! It all begins with an XML script that the skin
designer writes. This script will determine how the GUI looks by
dictating what should be created and where.
Once the XML script and the images are created, it's time to
compile the skin. Why compile? This allows Mercury to focus on
audio playback and not XML parsing, which means fast skin
changing for you, the user!
To install these skins, you will need the current
version of Mercury Audio Player and, of course, a computer to
run it on. Place the Mercury Skin File (.msf) in the "skins"
subfolder where Mercury is installed, run Mercury, and the skin will
now be selectable! Just choose it from the shortcut menu, or under
the Options menu! And now, on to the Skin Vault.
For those interested in creating a skin, we provide the Mercury
Skin Creation Kit. This is everything you need to begin creating
skins for Mercury! A compiler, sample scripts, and documentation. You can download
that right HERE. |
